Sorry
I know I haven't posted in a while, but things have been very hectic with finals week and what not coming up. I am thinking of enlisting someone else to help me out with this especially when I am too busy to post. If you are interested email me at mglantz92@cox.net thanks. I should probably be back posting reguarly during the week that conference play starts.

Valley Game of the Weekend
Well since I just started this 2 days ago, I thought I would do the Valley game of the weekend instead of the game of the week. There are a couple good games on this weekend but I'd have to say that the game of the weekend is Bradley @ Michigan State. Now Wichita hung with them for most of the game and ended up losing by 8. This game would be a huge win for the Braves if they can find a way to win this one. Michigan State had trouble with the Braves last year winning 66-61 in Peoria. History is not on the Braves' side. The last time they beat a Big 10 team on their home floor was in 1960 when they beat Minnesota. It does not look good for the Braves. Basically i think if Michigan State can just play their game and keep Raymar Morgan out of foul trouble and keep the Braves' 3 point shooting in check, they should win this one easily. But you never know. Bradley could come into East Lansing and win. But for now Michigan State will win easily 78-61.
Other games to Watch this weekend:
Sat, Dec 06 Saint Joseph's vs Creighton Philadelphia, Pa. TBA- This will be a good one. Creighton struggles mightily on the road. This will look very very nice on a resume if the Jays can win this one. Creighton is going to have to play some good basketball to win this one. The Jays do not play good on the road and St. Joes has a very good home court advantage even though the game is being played at the Palestra. Creighton won last year 90-84 at the Qwest Center in overtime with Dane Watts scoring 29 points. My Prediction: SJU takes advantage of Creighton's road woes and wins 72-65.
Sat, Dec 06 Southern Illinois vs Charlotte Carbondale, Ill. 1:05 p.m.- Charlotte holds a 6-1 record against the Salukis after winning in Charlotte last year 71-56. Although Charlotte is 1-6 right now, 5 of their 6 losses have been decided in the final minutes of the game or in overtime. This is a team who could be easily 6-1. Two losses (Clemson and Old Dominion) were by one point; two others (Appalachian State and Cal-State Fullerton) came in overtime and Charlotte led by two points with under two minutes to play in a fifth (Providence). My prediction: SIU wins in a defensive nail biter 55-52.
Sat, Dec 06 Louisville vs Indiana State Louisville, Ky. 2:05 p.m.- Well I'm not gonna say too much about this game because ISU has virtually no chance of winning. UL gets up early and doesn't look back. 87-60 UL

Well Hello There
Well I just started my blog on Valley Basketball. Let's Hope for a fun ride!
We'll Start this off with my take on how the Valley is doing this year. The league is down majorly this year. They are hangin' with BCS teams but just cant seem to get victories. We are 2-10 against the BCS with the two wins coming against Arkansas and Auburn both coming at the hands of the Missouri State Bears. But there have been some close ones. Wichita had a couple tough losses in the Old Spice Classic to Georgetown (58-50) and to Michigan State (65-57). SIU had a couple close games in the 2K Sports Classic with Duke and UCLA and ended up losing considerably to both teams. They hung close for 2/3 of each game and then it Duke and UCLA pulled away. And it doesn't get any easier. In the coming weeks Bradley plays @ Michigan State, Indiana State plays @ Louisville, Drake goes to Ames to take on Iowa State, and UNI plays @Iowa. I guess this is a problem that all Mid Major conferences. One year you're good and then when you cannot repeat that year, people wonder why.
